What is the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

In the New Testament, the word “gospel” is used about 100 times. Often referred to as the good news, the Gospel is a statement encapsulated in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”  The truth of the Gospel upholds the idea that we, as sinners, needed Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross at Calvary to atone for our sins. His resurrection offers us the promise of eternal life with Him in Heaven should we confess our sins and accept Him as our personal Savior.
